Why do Sales, Invoice and Payment Totals (Cash Up) reports give different totals?

At first glance, it can seem that these reports should give the same total but there are important differences between them!

Invoice and Detailed Invoice Log Reports list every invoice that has been created including on account payments and gift sales (these are not really sales – no service or good has been provided, they are simply a way of giving a credit).

Sales reports do not count "Gift voucher" or "Account" line items.

Sales reports include invoices of any status (ie unpaid, part paid or paid) except void.

Payment Totals (Cash Up) Report simply totals the value of payments taken including gift vouchers and on account payments.

Therefore, it is unlikely that all these reports will deliver the same totals.
